If you're a Sub1 owner in the UK and you bought your axe second hand, where did you find it?
I've completely fallen in love with them, but I can't find one for love nor rupees (bar one on eBay in Russia that I'd have to pay Kate Middleton's ransom to import).

I'm keeping tabs on Reverb, eBay and Gumtree, but am I missing anywhere else?

They are rare, even rarer in Europe. Maybe a trip to USA or getting one from the used Guitar Center section, they show up there now and then.

... Yep, two in the used section of GC just now. Also, sometimes they are mistaken with the Sterling by MusicMan Sub bass guitars so you could get one cheaply.

I do recall seeing one in for sale in the south of France. I remember it was a black hardtail in OK condition, but he had it listed as a 2011, which of course it couldn't be and it didn't have a compensated nut (so probably pre-2006). Anyway try zikinf.com, a French website, look for "petites annonces" for the small adds and do a search and you may find it.

Also, post an ad here, people do look at it...

Specki- you've got a better chance of Rossi winning another championship.... Errrrr, wait... He's leading the points.... So, you've got a good chance of finding one! GL!

Hello

The SUB DrKev is talking about is this one :
https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/dispannonce.php?annonce=1173224

The seller is a shop (Guitares lectriques d'occasion prix casss sur Sam Guitares).
The guitar is second hand.

There is another SUB on the French market :

Yes, the guy tried to make a heavy relic SUB ... :( but it's cheap.

Goof luck for your hunt
If you need help for translating the ads, just tell me (my French is quite good ;) )

I got mine from pmt in birmingham. Its had the pickgaurd and pickups from a sbmm installed and sounds and plays amazing. They are very hard to find, im lucky enough to own a 2003 sub5 bass which i bought new and its absolutely amazing. Ive since bought a sterling 5 HH so my sub is stuck in the house but i still play it and would never sell it.

Thanks for all the replies, they're appreciated!

As I'm after a black/graphite Sub with a trem, I haven't found what I'm looking for (yet!), but I have a much wider spectrum to keep my eyes on.

I'd love to go for this one on eBay, but the import fees would be insane (AND some cretin has scribbled on it, which makes it a non-starter).

In that case, Vale's poor qualifying yesterday may have damaged my chances of finding one just yet!

That's a good point, Doc; cosmetic surgery is often an indicator of deeper lying issues :p

Very pricey. I don't think many sold at that price when new. If I recall correctly the RRP was €1200 but street price was closer to €900, right? The last NOS in the stores here sold for less than €600.

And wasn't it just called "black"?

Yes, we're talking about a lower price, made in USA guitar (and bass) that Music Man made until 2006. Nothing at all to do with the SBMM guitars and basses that now use the SUB name.

Trolley, we're talking about a guitar that, according to your sig, you own!

Thanks for all your help guys; in the end I was offered one by another user of this forum, which is currently en-route to me with a delivery date of tomorrow.... IMPENDING NGD Y'ALL!!!!!!!:D:D:D

I do own - but it doesn't have a trem. And it also doesn't have much lacquer left on the neck 'cos it fell off within 6 months of buying it.
But it's good for messing around on
