Buttercream help anyone ?

I am hoping to find someone who is willing to take their Buttercream MM guitar or bass to an automotive paint shop that has the ability to scan and paint match so that I can use as close a color as possible on a repair I have in my shop at the moment. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have one in the shop, can't you take it to get it scanned? It'll be a closer match considering that butterscotch is one of the colors that can fade/darken slightly depending on the conditions the instrument is subjected to.

I do not have the guitar in the shop that is Buttercream - therein lies the problem . . . .

It´s a refinishing/restoration problem. Original finish is gone and it was Buttercream. Capice ?

Well that's a whole different story. I thought you were repairing the finish. You did say REPAIR not RESTORE in your OP.

I believe he was using "repair" as a noun to describe the instrument itself.

In any event, I do not have a buttercream instrument to have scanned. And, a Google search is not turning up anything that is useful that matches the ones I've seen in person since the pictures all appear to be washed out from flashes, etc.

All I have is a nicely faded white Bongo. Hopefully, someone who has one will pipe in soon.

No guarantees, of course.

And if the finish is all gone why dont you just get any buttercream finish scan, paint sample or hell any color square from home depot?

Yes, the guitar was refinished and I am trying to get us back to the original color. I apologize if my wording was ambiguous or confusing. Luckily, I have gotten a positive response from someone in the guitar forum.

Mine *seems* to have got a tad darker but possibly just me ? will see what pictures I have got kicking about, but if its a total re-finish just get it as close as.
In all my years in auto repair I have never mixed Buttercreme
