Can Silhouette Handle Hard Rock?

Hey Everyone,

I'm seriously considering purchasing an H-S-H Silhouette with the piezo in the bridge. I'm looking for versatility in a Strat-like guitar. Now, I don't expect a Dream Theater type sound out of it, but will it put out a good hard-rock Richie Sambora type sound? I know it will be fine for blues and whatnot, but I still need it to rock. I don't need a metal guitar, I have an Ibanez RG570 w/ a Tone Zone in the bridge for that But will the Silhouette be able to handle a nice, thick hard rock sound? How does the piezo sound?

hey man, i think the silhouette will be able to handle it fine. EB guitars are very versitile and the silhouette is no exception. i actually use a axis super sport for nu metal and its awesome. i haven't heard or played anything better. i use it on a Mesa single recto, and a randall cyclone - (my main head)

PAF Pro Hot/Bassy Enough

Hey Estin,

Thanks for the reply. Do you know anything about how the PAF Pro sounds in the Bridge of the Silhouette? What pickup does the Axis Super Sport have in the bridge? The PAF Pro is a great neck pickup, thats for sure, but Im wondering if it's hot and bassy enough in the Bridge Position. Any thoughts?

Steve Vai used the PAF pro in the bridge of his Jems for years so if it's good enough for him...!!!

I actually play a Silhouette and it rocks! I find that EB guitars in general are smokin' but there are a few things you can do to improve the rock sound. I would try and find one in a local guitar store (Guitar Center carries them I know) and play it in an amp similar to yours. Maybe try and get the same effects pedals that you use in the store. Trust me, if your going to shell out a grand for a guitar, they won't mind appeasing your whims. If it still doesn't have the bite you are looking for, for about $100 extra, you can add some Kinman pickups (http://www.kinman.com/ /). They are amazing, and will give you that live sound that you want for rock, but no noise. They are really great stuff, and I reccomend them to anyone!
