Carvin it up

anyone in here ever check out carvin bass amps, theyre pretty sweet. Im thinkin of pickin one up, but as usual all the specs are confusin me. Heres what Im lookin at My question is how many watts is this thing if I just plug right in? I already tried Emailing them but still no responce, so i figured one of you guys might be able to tell me, id really appreciate it, thanks alot

They're aren't too many detailed specs on the website, but it looks to me like this combo has a stereo power amp that will put out 600 watts in bridged mono mode, which is how you would normally run it to drive the 2x10 setup in the combo. If you want to add another cab, you can run the power amp in stereo mode as a biamped rig using (I assume) an internal crossover to run the extension cabinet off one side of the amp and the internal speakers off the other channel. In stereo mode it probably puts out something like 300 watts per channel.

In the absence of detailed specs of either the amp or the speakers, it's difficult to say for sure, but that's my take on it.

Yeah i was kinda guessin that it was around 300watts unbridged, hopefully the site will get back to me soon, I emailed them twice already and still no responce. But thanks for your input

I have been using the Carvin R600 head and the redline 4X10 cab for about 4-5 years now. For the money you will spend, the quality, sound and options are great. I will freely admit there are better amps out there, but it is all a question of what you want and are willing to spend. I can get a great sound out of my carvin and am perfectly satisfied in a live environment. For me the only place to get really picky about my tone is in the studio, and the Carvin still sounded great in the studio.

Well they just e-mailed me back, they say that without any additional amps it could be run at 600watts or 250watts.

i use a redline or what ever 4 10's.... there alright, not alota low.. carvin is like average, not great, but not bad.

Yeah I know what u mean shaver, Id much rather get sumthin like a mesa but right now i just need sumthing decent sounding, powerful, and cheap for easy gigging, so this looks like sumthing thatll suit me for a while

Not that I can help here. Can a combo ever do what one needs for a gig? I know I haven't played one that would unless the room was small.

This weekend I'm gonna be heading on over to Port Hueneme, CA for the English Ministry's retreat. We'll be staying at a hotel and I'll be on the bass for praise. I think we'll be in some sort of hall, but I'm not sure about the size of the room. Anyway, I'll be chugging along either the church's Hartke Kickback 15 combo or my Behringer BX600 combo. If anyone's interested, I'll let them know how the combo works out.

I have a Carvin RL1018 stack (R1000 head, 4x10, 1x18). The thing is very loud and has alot of tweaking ability. I'm moving (sold my house) and I want to get rid of it. Since I sold my house I'll have some money for a new amp. I'm looking into getting a higher end stack with somewhat less power (around 750 watts like a GK1001RB).
