I came across this and thought it might be helpful to anyone considering Carbon Blue Pearl as a colour. I know it drove me nuts because most pics don't really give you a true feeling of this colour.

Looks good, I was considering that (sorta) before I decided on Graphite Pearl. I'm more of a black, white, or grayish colored guitar guy anyway.
 
Yeah, that's from the Octavarium Animation thingy. I think the artist was trying to catch the greenish blue-ish colors from Mystic Dream, which is an awesome color(s) so I guess you're right. Black, white, gray (graphite), Natural, and Mystic Dream :D

hi fogman.. (and also other friends)

i saw a video of john petrucci playing for young guitar magazine, and something strange with the color of his guitar.. sometimes the guitar looks like blue, sometimes looks like purple, the headstock seems like purple...(and he definately use a purple guitar straps)..

so my question is : is it carbon blue pearl or is it mystic dream?or is it purple?:confused:

I'm guessing it's Mystic Dream. If the light came from another angle it would look green.. but we're always seeing it under consistent lighting.. from the purple angle.

also, the title of the vid may be a clue.

I tought it too, but, in this angle, if it was MD color, we could see some difference, when JP move a little bit, but, everywhere it's purple. Maybe we can ask JP :D
 
I'm pretty convinced he uses the CBP on the Score DVD for a large part of it, as well as Buttercream, Graphite and...all bow down before it's magnificence, the Sitrucci.

I believe there's not even a single song on Score on which he uses a CBP Pet. the majority is MD, and there's also the one's you've mentioned + Egyptian Smoke & the Sparkley double neck.

+1. I'd have to recheck the DVD, but I don't think there's CBP anywhere on the DVD. Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing JP with CBP on any live DVD or during any live performance I've seen in person. At times the MD looks blue, which may be interpreted as CBP, I guess.

I though MD was Purple/Green? Could have sworn it looked blue! Maybe it's the stage lighting changing it?
 
MD sometimes looks green, sometimes blue, sometimes purple. When it looks black, those are low-light conditions.
