i got these knobs seeeeeeeeeeeeee and they look identical to the orriginal 76 stingray knobs maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan. anyways the thing is they're only 1/2 an inch tall which i worry, cause when compared to other knobs they'rea bout 1/4 an inch shorter. so what im saying is can this be done? can a 1/2 inch knob work on a stingray?

what is the height of the metalic part under the stock knobs on a stingray?

I would have thought the question mark key would be worn out by now. It's certainly gotten a flogging during the past couple of weeks.

:D

While I'm happy to answer (where possible) and encourange newer & maybe younger players (and I even berated fellow posters for ragging on some of the newer chaps), there does seem to be a proliferation of needless questions up here lately.....

And I'm not picking on this thread in particular.

Someone on another thread is moaning that they don't know EXACTLY which wood theie bass is made from. I would have said if it meant that much then to find out BEFORE you buy the bass?

Or is it just me?

Feel free to kick my ass.....

I'd leave the Bass original. If you remove the knurled knobs, you'll end up losing them. From my understanding, "Radio Knobs" were used due to a shortage of the knurled ones anyways.

.

i looked up this earlier, no one ever asked this

does anyone know? or will i have to go to my local guitar center "land of stingrays missing knobs"

*Remove existing knobs on your Bass

*6 inch steel rule and simply measure shaft length

Good luck :)

i meant "i dont got it(the stingray) yet

so i cant measure the rod under the tone knob, thats all. i was asking this so i didn't have to try to put them on and fail, and or end up crying or accidentally breaking something.

if anyone knows the height of the rod under the tone knob or if a 1/2 inch tall knob could fit on a stingray it would help a lot

It might be an idea to wait until you've got it before you think about modifying it.
