Christmas come early for me! (photo upgrade inside)

Went into my local music shop on friday to grab some speaker cables for my recently acquired amp and cabs, and just happened to come across a good deal on this little baby to complement my Black/Black/Maple SR4 (which I couldn't refuse). Always wanted to take a Sterling for a spin, as well as a rosewood fingerboard, so when I saw this mint bass USED (I've never even seen a new Sterling for sale in a guitar shop in this country, let alone a used one) I just had to go for it.

I can still remember the day I never thought I'd own a Stingray (due to monetary constraints) let alone TWO EB basses!

Quick question. Is she Candy Red? Seemed to match up pretty well with the colour chart on the website, but still not sure. Has a nice sparkle effect up close when the light hits her. She's gorgeous! Even my girlfriend likes her looks, and good thing what with the new amount of space I'm now consuming in the apartment, as well as the fact I was only supposed to be buying speaker cables!!!

Typical, I go out to buy some cables, and come back with a bass! I'm sure from now on my girlfriend will be coming with me anytime I want to visit any guitar stores, should I happen to come across a used Bongo! :D

I believe it's translucent red, like mine:

I don't think it's trans-red, as the wood grain is not visible through the paint, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Will have more photos to confirm the colour (and to show her off in all her glory) once I upload the digital pics. Only had the phone pic to upload at work, but it had to be done ASAP before the forum becomes overrun with photos of dual-pickup basses.
Happy happy joy joy!

Your girlfriend is MUCH more understanding than my wife, Dave. If I had gone to the store to buy cables & came back with a bass, I'm pretty sure she would be filing for divorce right now. :D

Nice bass!

Cheers Bill, I hear ya, she is definitely a keeper (the bass and the GF)! Perhaps if "the girfriend" was actually "the wife" things might be a little different, but for now I still have the slightest bit of control over my actions, ha-ha. And she knows I've been looking for a second bass for a little while now, and perhaps even somewhat understands what came over me when I spotted this one and had to buy it. She's pretty cool that way, though I'm sure if there was a forum for partners of bass players, she would definitely join in with the complaining.

After picking up the two Eden cabs, the guy I bought them from was with his wife and she was actually jumping for joy to be getting rid of them (2 of the 6 he had)! On the other hand my girlfriend who was with me was just realising they were a LOT bigger than she imagined! I could actually see her looking at this guy's wife and getting a glimpse of what her future might be like. :D

At least now when we buy a new house next year this should guarantee I get my own room for storage of "ugly" man-goods (basses/amps/cabs/CD collection/etc). It's starting to sound good, I may never come out!

And beautiful bass Dr.Stankface (it rhymes). So I believe mine is definitely Candy Red, as the finish is hidden behind the nice deep red sparkly bits. But I'll still post some decent photos soon, as I'm happy to show her off!

My wife has explained to me that the literal translation of "feng shui" is "Put your husband's crap in the garage." :D

That was so good I cut and pasted it into an email to my girlfriend.

That's fine as long as long as the definition of "crap" is the same for both parties.

Usually the wife don't care what your definition is. As it is hers that counts. :D :D

Congrats on the bass Dave

So is this "Candy Red" or "Candy Apple Red" as I've also seen it written? Didn't know I could find a "sparkle" bass anymore, but I quite like the subtlety of the sparkles on my new baby. Photos don't do her justice!

If I'm not mistaken, that red with the sparkly type finish could be Radiance Red. Post the serial and someone at the Mothership can tell you for sure.

Nice bass there Dave, lucky find - btw if you need any storage for your gear you can use my secret bass cave in Rugby.... unless the wife discovers it first.

Cheers
