Alice Cooper’s Chuck Garric: 20 Years with the Music Man Stingray
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (November 22, 2005) – Ernie Ball-endorsed artist Chuck Garric of the legendary Alice Cooper band has been a fan of the Music Man Stingray ever since he saw Flea playing onstage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the 1980s. A time when most musicians were playing fancier basses, Garric chose the Stingray – preferring its old school look.
He’s quick to comment on features that sold him on the instrument more than 20 years ago.
“I love its look – very tough,” said Garric. “And I love its unique sound. The tone it produces is indescribably Music Man.
“You can manipulate the sound just the way you want. It gives the low end you need, is great for D tune songs, and provides that classic bass sound that’s great for creating a 70s sounding tone.”
With Alice Cooper for three years, Garric plays on two records – Eyes of Alice Cooper and Dirty Diamonds (on which he both played bass and co-wrote). He has been busy the past few months since the release of Dirty Diamonds, touring with the band since June with over 100 shows this year. They just finished playing the U.S., and are now heading to the U.K. to tour with opening act Twisted Sister. In February, they will return to Europe to co-headline with Deep Purple.
