Just got back from seeing Cowpilot tonight at DaDa.

What can I say?

They sounded great and the crowd seemed to get into their music.

You would have to know the crowd in Deep Ellum to know how surprised I was.
 
That's so cool. I didn't get off work till after 9 or I'd been there.

That Deep Ellum crowd can be a snooty bunch, glad the boys went over.
 
No one is more surprised than am I.

WTF? Our one advantage is we followed a very 'sincere' singer-songwriter, so we had the element of surprise on our side when we launched into "These Boots Are Made For Walkin".

Larry, were people yelling back at me during "Red Hot"? I was blinded by stage lights and couldn't really hear anything but the monitors. For those of you who are blessedly unfamiliar with Cowpilot, we do this song where I sing, "My gal is red hot" and the band (and sometimes others) yell back, "Your gal ain't doodley squat."

I did so adore telling the Deep Ellum crowd that (a) there were hall monitors hidden amongst them and that (b) there would be fines for anyone who didn't yell back.

I was approached numerous times and told how fun we were. One music management type cornered me and talked to me for twenty minutes, at least, about our novel approach to cover material. As often as I think "People really don't get this", I didn't think that tonight - and it was gratifying.

Also gratifying that Larry and Paul showed up yet again. You guys are really gluttons for punishment!

I think the show was recorded and will be on the 'net, but let me research this.

Thanks, Larry and Paul! Wish you could have been there, Ray. The band that followed us KILLED. I bought a CD, even, but they were much better live.

Know it well Jack. We did this song back in Australia in our sixties blues/rock/billy incarnation. Guaranteed crowd pleaser.
