Alright fellas, I thought I'd just share an idea before I get started on my newest project.
I've been looking around at some of the pgs they have for stingrays, and none of them really make the SR4 look truly "custom". With that said, I've decided to design, create, and install my own custom pickguard.
What I'm hoping to achieve is a dragon or spider, carved with extreme detail out of maple to match my fingerboard. I have a dremel rotary tool, so the carving shouldn't be a problem; I want to get the ancient//archaic look in the carving.
Any thoughts/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated before starting. Also, if anyone is interested in something like this for their bass, I'd gladly make a custom pg. I'll show you all how it turns out when I'm done, should take no more than a couple weeks to complete.
For my first one, I'm pretty much trying to get a relief like this:
