Cutlass Trem adjustment?

It seems that the pics of the cutlass have it flush where the trem only goes down. Is it ok to set them up like a strat so that they will float a bit? Do you need a shim for that?

Yes you can set them up to float.

You would need to adjust the spring tension, intonation, and saddle/string height.

DOH! I didn't even think about the saddles, forgive me, I'm not really quite "that" stupid.

I set my Cutlass to float as well.

Since that is the case, it's a perfect solution for maybe my next guitar. My strat is "ok" but that neck and the MM hardware combo would fit me better I think.
