Is the version shipping with the newer JP's a tweaked version of the off the shelf D-sonic?

Anyone know. I couldn't really confirm that in a search.

Tim I believe it is a little bit tweaked, I read it several times on the board

Interesting. Thanks, I should have called.

The JP D-Sonic has the "bar" blacked out, while the other pole pieces are still silver. Off the shelf models have a chrome/silver bar and pole pieces. Otherwise specs are the same.

I don't know if DiMarzio offers the D-Sonic with a black bar as a shelf piece, they very well may.

All right, I'm terribly confused. I'm about to install a Dsonic in a JP6 and am confused on what to do.

After searching there seems to be confusion on what to do with the orientation of the neck pup.

Dimarzio tech line says reverse all D-sonic wiring
Pup = PC:
White= red
Black = green
green= black
red=white

They then told me to reverse the neck pickup 180 degrees and wire as above.

Has anyone done this and what did you do?

Lou,

That is the correct way to do it. You will need to take the scrap wire from the D-sonic and use it to lengthen the leads on the neck pickup, otherwise the wiring isn't long enough to reach the toggle when you rotate the pickup.

Damn that's a pain in the arse. Thanks for the quick reply pete.

Installed the new D-sonic last night. I like it. Sounds beefier and tighter, less twangy to me. Palm mute chunk! My other JP will be soon to follow.

/Starts saving money for new JP.
