someone from EB will get your DOBs to you in the next day or two, but I just thought I'd mention that the plural of "Axis" is "Axes" - potentially confusing to the uninitiated, I know, but I figure that in the end it just helps keep the peons in the dark ;)

The more Axes the better!

If the name were Axe then you would be correct.
I would say that the plural to Axis would be Axii. ;)

Actually, it doesn't much matter whether you agree with me or not, as it is perfectly clear to anyone who can pick up a copy of Webster's or Oxford English that I am absolutely correct...

I took 4 years of Latin, and the axis/axes thing strikes me as a Greek root. (Yes, the Romans borrowed a lot from the Greeks.. architecture, religion, and lots of words!)

Jimi *is* right.. just as "indices" is the plural of index.. even though anyone who's ever read a database manual will see that 'indexes' is used on a large scale, even though it's incorrect!

Whoever is thinking axii is plural.. that would be a Latin plural form (nominative case, male gender), but the singular would have to be 'axus'.

My apologies to Jimi D. You are the grammar master. I am again the victim of being bilingual. Axii sounded good to me just as the plural of radius, etc... But I am incorrect.

I could argue that in this case "Axis" is a name and therefore would not follow typical grammatic protocol, but I won't continue kicking the horse!
I will just say "many or more axis"! :p

I took plenty of math to know that "axes" is the plural of "axis", but I just think its fun to come up with new words


isn't that the origin of many words anyway? people making up new ones?
