Hey guys

Looking for some input on this, I bought my 2004 stingray a few years ago, at the time i didnt pay much attention to the back of the neck but now i cant help notice that the back of the neck all the way up to the back of where the nut would be is a browny stain colour that wont budge by cleaning ? Is there anyway of getting rid of this ?
Thanks

The back of your neck is finished with gunstock oil and wax. This goes all the way up to where the nut is on the fretboard side. After a time it will become slightly darker than the headstock which has a different finish. What you describe sounds normal to me and nothing to worry about. Perhaps post a pic of the the neck.

I consider that mojo, but a bit of the gunstock oil and some steel wool or sandpaper as mentioned above will do quite nicely. Be careful with the steel wool, it can discolor a maple neck further if you are not careful.

See my recent post on using gunstock oil and steel wool.

my neck on my '02 stingray is a dark dark yellow color from all the oils and crap that gets on there when i play it...i play that bass everyday almost and has done the most shows with me...i wipe the neck and strings down after everytime i play it and it still gets darker...it makes the neck less boring to look at for me...
