I know I just got my LIII and I am very happy with it.

But.......

These BFRs are killing me. My latest target is the LIII Koa.

So who's got or has played one?

I know they'll play great but what tone wise does the Koa bring to the table?

Also if anyone wants to further torture me with pics, feel free.

I do not own any LIIIs but I have 3 Luke IIs and one is a koa BFR. Tonewise, my take away is that the tone is a little bit fuller in the low mids, but that the biggest difference appears to be due to the ebony fretboard: the attack on the transients of notes is very fast. It is not a brightness/treble quality; it is more a dynamics difference. Notes just "pop" instantly. Very nice for applications where that is appropriate. Single coil sounds have a great pop, cluck, and quack; the humbucker in the bridge sounds amazing for fast percussive rhythm playing with high gain.

No experience here and no pics, but Luke plays one at the Toto tour right now. Search for toto 2016 live on YT and there'll be some videos of him playing it. Here's one:

Estimated ship date on the one we have on order is currently 5/20

Here's the one from NAMM - I had held off on posting it because of the reflection

I have a Koa Luke II and the top is beautiful. Light can make the wood really shimmer; it looks very deep. I really like how the gold hardware plays off of the golden hues in the wood.
