Does EBMM have a custom shop?

EB doesn't have a custom shop :)

That 'someone' was BP if my memory is intact....

You guys are missing the point. EBMM IS as custom shop.

What is the definition of a custom shop? It's a place where you put in an order for a guitar in the color and configuration you want, and they make it for you. Now, the options you have to choose from are somewhat limited for certian models, like you can't order gold hardware, or get an Axis with a 15" fretboard radius, but they are still only made when an order is placed.

I'll say it again, EBMM ONLY makes a guitar after an order is placed! They aren't like the other manufacturers that have such unpredictable quality control on their regular models that they have to run a custom shop so that you can be sure to get a real gem. All of EBMM guitars come out that way, because they don't have a "regular production line", and another for people who are fortunate enough to be able to drop $3500 on a guitar manufactured with the care it ought to be. EBMM offers Custom Shop quality at or below the price for most other American model straight production guitars.

Click a model and check out the options, then contact an EBMM dealer to order what you want. It's that simple.

That's funny :D .

IMO, EBMM guitars are all custom shop quality, plus zillions of possibilities with colors, tops, fingerboards, Piezos, tremolos/bridges, etc.

Unlike some other production makers where all their signature models are basically the same guitar with a different paint job or stain.

I think I converted one of my buddies the other day. He has a custom shop Telecaster with a bird's eye neck that he brags about. When he got hold of my JP6 (He was so blessed - I usually don't let anyone touch my guitars) you should have seen the look on his face. He was seriously impressed with the guitar and said it had the most playable neck he'd ever seen.

>^..^<

I once came to our local dealer and asked him about the price of a SM. He said "It doesn't go that way. You have to place an order first! Choose the finish, bridge, headstock etc. Then we can tell you the exact price."

So basically yes EBMM is a custom shop.

The only thing that sucks is that you have to be a EBMM artist to get a totally custom made guitar. And being endorsed by EB probably costs a LOT.:o

But EBMM SUB & OLP (I know OLP is made in China anyway...) Line, is it mean is the Standard products?

Nick.

Okay, I understand that EBMM makes guitars to order. What I meant was, does EBMM have a custom shop that will build a guitar to my specs? I'm in love with my Silo, but I think it could use a few changes for it to fit 'my' specs..i.e. carved top, 25" scale, etc...

No

Like I said, you have certian options available on certian models, some more than others. I think you would be hard pressed to find any regular manufacturer that would alter the basic design of their guitar the way you have suggested. I mean, if you were to call the F****r Custom Shop, and ask for a strat model with a carved top, I don't think they would do it. I think they would probably tell you that a Stagemaster is your only option, but it has a different cut and construction than a standard strat.

The kind of thing you are wanting, I think, is something that you would have to get done at a custom Luthier anyway. There are people that will do that kind of work, but it costs a Sh**load of money.

As far as OLP, as has been stated many times on this forum, OLP is not a line of EBMM. They only have EBMMs blessing to make guitars the same shape as EBMM. They are two comepletely seperate companies.

The SUB guitars, and somebody from EBMM can correct me on this if I'm wrong, are made to the same standards as any other EBMM guitar. The only difference being the finish, and electronics. They don't have to be as selective with the appearance of the wood on the neck, because the neck is painted. I'm sure the finish on the body is probably alot less costly to produce. The pickups are good, but they aren't custom Dimarzios, or Seymour Duncans, or EMGs, so they cost less to produce. All these details allow EBMM to produce a quality, affordable guitar at less cost to you. As far as I know, someone still has to order a SUB for them to make it.

EBMM also spend much less time with setup on the SUBs before they go out the door.

if that's the case then technically I can have an axis super sport with HH on the body of maple+ash, is it posible? I was asking about those two wood combo's in another thread. if they say no, then I think what they do is they pre-cut bodies and necks and route the bridge and finish them on order. How long is their average lead time anyway?

I think you better ask EBMM one time... I'm also want to know that... I like the Axis Rosewood neck option but I want Mahogany or Black Limba!! Wow...... if they can do, I'm also want to think of this!! But also have to see the price!!:D

I'm not sure what is so hard to understand about this. If you go to this link:
http://www.ernieball.com/mmonline/
and go to "Build an Instrument", you will see what options they offer on what models.

It sounds like with the ideas you guys are batting around, you should be able to afford to commission an experienced, credible luthier to build you the very guitar you want.

Withmyshadow, some of the old Axis Sport bodies were made of Ash. If you can pick up one, you can have somebody throw a premium maple top on it for you , and you will have what you are looking for.

:) :) :) :)
I'm slow ;)
now seriously, like I said if their shop is small and flexible and they indeed build the guitar after the order is placed then that there's no point in separating body options and pickup options, imho.
anyway, I can settle and I could always go with something like this :)

I've always viewed EB as a custom shop but with boundaries set. If you tried to get the quality and options on an Axis with another company you'd be paying over twice as much. As for OLP the design is just licensed to another company and it introduces the design to kids that may not be able to afford the real thing at the present time.

I just got off the phone with somebody at musicman. regarding axis HH on ash body, the answer is no :(
I asked him why and he said: " we are not a custom shop."
that's your final answer for the thread :(
I will probably get it anyway since I really like the sound of P90's and I have an HH guitar.
