EB Axis for metal?

I have a SS HH Axis that I am very fond of. I am an old guy and don't care for pointy guitars. My problem is that it seems to be a little too muddy for metal. Is there any way to clean this up with eq? Would changing my amp make a difference? I am using a Laney LC15.. Anyone who knows what they are doing care to comment?

I like my guitar and dont want to put new pickups in it.
 
I would think that the limiting factor with your set-up will be the amp.

I just had a quick browse on HC Link Here and the general view is that the amp doesn't cut it for 'metal' without extra pedals or the like.

There are a ton of sounds inside the Axis, so it may be worth wandering along to your local store with it and plugging in to a few different amps.

(ps, it helps if it's a music store that you go to :D )
 
I used the Axis through a rack rig for Metal for years with great success - the pickups are hot, tight and huge! I agree with jimmyb - the problem's not with the guitar but with the rest of the rig...
 
Hmmm....on the basis of that clip I don't think I'm going to be adding any Rammstein to my CD collection anytime soon!:D
 
I have Rammstein's first album. Love it.

Here's their best song IMHO, and the same guitarist is using an Axis.

Strapping Young Lad's "in studio" videos had Devin Townsend running around with an Axis. One of the most brutal bands around.

Thanks for all the replies. if you look in the HC forums some people say the axis is no good for metal.... you never know what to believe.

That b-52 looks pretty cool, and I think I will give engl a whirl.

Consider the source...HC. Not the best of places IMHO.
I know the Axis is great for metal, blues, folk, jazz, whatever. Too many phenomenal players use the Axis....Steve Stephens comes to mind right off the bat. :cool:
