EB Solid Steel saddles ROCK!!!

I'm not exactly sure why these dont come on all the models, instead of the vintage saddles (respectfuly). I have been customising my Silhouette since I got it last year with some pups, pots, knobs, and now I switched the saddles. The Silhouette is an AMAZING guitar as it comes from the factory, but I have this sound in my head I want from my guitars, which is a bit darker and thicker, but yet nice and clear and bell like. From the factory, the Silo sounded nice and on the vintagy side good for Rock, but I couldnt get a really heavy sound as WELL as a straty twangy cleaner tone. So I changed pups and pots to beef it up and that made it really nice. But something was still missing, and than I got obsessed with the way the Piezo saddles look, but I cant have those so I got the regular ones that are put on the ASS.
I was absolutely freakin floored in how much the tone has changed with this small switch of the saddles. It definatly got me MUCH closer to my illussive perfect tone that I have been looking for (BTW nothing wrong with the guitar, the major part in that tone I'm lookin for is good Ampage). Also I feel that the whole trem system flows much more smoothly after I put these Metal Monsters on. I think I'm gonna have to put these on the Luke as well, and than the 20th Silo when it comes. I highly suggest checking these out on the Silos and such, if any one of you guys have been lookin for that thicker darker yet very clear sound. I'll try and post some pics of my updated Silo on Monday and possibly some clips if I have time (dont say anything Foggy :D).
 
That's cool! I have heard good stuff about steel sadles!

Btw, what pickups are you using on your silhouette? I'm very courious!
 
I put those saddles on my silo like 2 years ago, I was telling everyone in another thread that they fit perfectly and sound better, in fact I told dargin and big poppa at the NAMM show that they should offer it on their guitars - glad you enjoy them, not only do they sound better but they are more comfortable for the palm -
 
flukather, I put DiMarzio BREED neck and Bridge pups in the Silo, and left the single stock. The humbuckers sound really great by themselves and splitting them with the stock single give me so much versatility in this beast.

lock-ny, you are correct sir. I remember that, and I think you even typed to me directly about it. Really does make a lot of difference, and the comfort part is definatly what I was also looking for.
 
What brand are these steel saddles, and where can they be found?

Also, these are stainless steel?

These are Ernie Ball Music Man saddles - EBMM bridges (trem or fixed) come with one of two types of saddles - vintage saddles or the steel block saddles. I have vintage saddles on my Albert Lee and one of my Axis Sports (w/ trem), and all my other EBMMs have the steel block saddles. I've never done a tonal comparison between the two, tho'...
 
Would someone kindly post pics so the mentally challenged among us (OK, just me I guess :p ) can see the difference?

Thanks, Jimi. Will EBMM sell these saddles, then, as aftermarket parts? I'm guessing so since you were able to get them.

I'm confused. (Which happens easily enough. :) ) Doesn't the Silhouette come standard with solid steel saddles?

Are the block/solid saddles stainless or nickled steel, like the vintage saddles?
 
Looking at the 2 pics - the bridge in the top pic looks like it would give a more twangy sound compared to the lower pic.
 
Yes I believe that the block Steel Saddles are Stainless Steel, and are MUCH heavier and fuller, which is why I get a bigger fuller tone. There is nothing wrong with the vintage saddles, but I preffer the solid block ones for comfort and tone of course. I got em from EB, directly. Try it out guys, and then report back on how the sound changed on the geetars you have with the current vintage ones!
