EBAY piezo sterling SCAM

The seller claims this bass has piezo pickups, (a $400 option new) but it doesnt. It is an older model with the string mutes. Always read before you bid.

how can u tell? yes it has string mutes, but thats not where music man puts their peizo, they usualy put the peizo on the sadals them selvs (i dont know if sadals are the right term, but the part of the bridge were the string rests or makes contact)

but i could be wrong, i dont know much about peizo. but from pictures i've seen, i belive this is right

Note how the SRs and Sterlings have an additional knob for the piezo feature. Below is a pic of the Sterling w/ piezo:

The Sterling on eBay that ebmuscmanlvr83 pointed out does not have the additional knob.

It's the same with the Sterling, but more subtle, relatively speaking of course:

I don't think there are any options for a 3 or 2 band EQ on the Sterling. Just a standard 3EQ with the option of a piezo, I believe.

I think it's possible he's just noticed the bridge is different than on standard Sterlings and just assumed that his must therefore be a piezo bridge.

I'm with you. If it was a scam, the seller would have "conveniently" left out the general view of the bridge. I think it's more a case of his/her not knowing the difference.

The bridge appears to be a transitional bridge from the circa 1994-1996 period when EB began deleting the mute assembly. The bridge remained the same size before it was down sized as per current bridge. Hex bolts were inserted in the holes previously occupied by the thumb screws. Perhaps the seller presumed the bolts were a piezo setup???

There's certainly enough evidence around that the term "Piezo Bridge" causes confusion.

What caught my eye was the fact the he mentioned the RHCP drawing on the back of the head stock, but his photos are so bad that you can't make anything out.
