EBMM EVH Owners - Important Question

What do you do when your saddles wear out? There are no replacements available. The saddles have a slight offset which prohibits standard replacement parts from being used. If you put a diffrent bridge on all together the angle the string runs will induce more string breakage. The Graphtech relacements DON"T work either. Believe me, I've tried all this stuff. What's the answer? I'm desperate.

Thanks guys

I would email the music man customer support and ask for replacement saddles for their floyd rose bridge. The bridge is still in production and is featured on the axis model. They are very helpful and great with replies/orders.

Hey JT3, Here is the deal. Ernie Ball will let you trade in your whole trem unit minus the locking nut for a brand new Music Man Gotoh unit for $100 (don't quote me on the price, but I seem to remember that was the cost as Ernie Ball makes no money on the deal...they just do it as a service). This is the best deal running since the offset saddles are not available and the Axis saddles will not work on the EVH trem. Hope this helps!

WO i did not know that the trems were different on the EVH and Axis......i'll shutup now ;)

I guess you learn something new everyday....

...the offset saddles are not available and the Axis saddles will not work on the EVH trem...

Well, that's just greeeeeeaaaaaaaaat news.

  :(

What would be the difference? The offset? Why the offset on one model and not the Axis? Explain...!!! ;)

the mold for the offset was distroed when ed left. maybe someone from ebmm will chime in why the diferent saddles

I hope they have a fix for this. No other saddle will work and putting a replacement trem on it sits the saddles in a slightly diffrent position. That means that anyone with an original EVH is SOL:mad: . Mine are my main axes. I use them everyday and 150 gigs a year. I need this addressed somehow. Breaking strings all the time because of distresed or worn saddles is nuts. The chrome on mine is gone.

EB is a great company:) , they must be able to address this.

now i'm confused....is the trem you can get form EB (trade in) the same as the original trem on the EVHs? or is it the one they put on the axis?

and i dont understand what the difference is between the 2?

i didnt go to guitar tech school!!!:p

I looked at my axis and my evh they look the same to me!

if i see the difference I will post a picture!

the saddles on the evh are offset compared to the ones on the axis. meaning if you look at the string it dosent run directly over the saddle screw thus allowing ofr easier access to the screw. now wether this was the intention of the offset is not known by me as i dont work for ebmm. maybe jon or someone can chime in. i am suprised that someone hasnt already. i would call customer service or e-mail repair and see what they have to say. also if the axis is old enough it may use nos parts and have evh parts on it until they used them all up.

Ahh thats why I can not see it my axis is from 96' it must be the same as the evh. I understand now!

Oh yeah... i see it now, (i had to go look at one)

So the strings on the axis are centered over the saddle bolt?

Interesting.

wow lil old me helped out here. i feel very big. i am suprised jon or someone from ebmm hasnt chimed in on this as what to do. for some reason the evh had those saddles i am assuming it was ed's idea since they got rid of it but its something we all would like to know as to why. i would guess the axis floyd would work as the neck is only so wide so the offeset would only affect the style of the bridge so if you put a axis bridge on there it would still be true. dont know though.

Still no viable fix to this problem. Please, someone from EB chime in here with the answer. All the early EVH owners need a fix. Thank you.

i would recommend e-mailing jon or calling. seems they dont really want to talk about why the offset saddles and i understand.

i have exactly the same problem. i am after some replacement floyd saddles for my silo - they are also offset...

have emailed ebmm, so will let you know if i hear anything...

first post by the way - hi everybody...

I think guys, you will have to wait for Monday now, as the EB staff have week ends off too. Give them a call is easier.
