EBMM Luke vs. Luke by Sterling

I am a female player and smaller necks suit me best. I've heard that the Luke has one of the smallest necks of EB artist guitars (I played a EBMM EVH model for years and it was great----should never have sold it!) At any rate, has anyone compared necks on the EBMM Luke vs. the Sterling Luke? Just wondering what your take on the differences/similarities are. Thanks from Texas.:)

Well first off, the finish on the back of the necks are different. The EBMM the nicer oil finish whereas the Sterling has the "regular" finish.

I found the profiles to be pretty close. I didn't A/B them, but my hand memory between playing the two didn't recall any drastic differences. I played them a few months apart.

I'm sure more experienced opinions are on the way as well, but other than the finish on the back, both necks were really great. I was seriously considering ordering the Sterling. Dollar for dollar, it's an amazing deal.

But I was fortunate to have a little extra gig money so I went ahead and splurged on the EBMM. I'll have it in November.

If you're on a tighter budget, don't hesitate to order the Sterling. You won't be disappointed in what you get for the money.

Oh and welcome to the forum!! I'm not a real frequent poster but this is a great place with really friendly and helpful EBMM/Sterling fans.

Be careful though. They'll have you wanting all kinds of guitars if you're not careful!!

Thanks a million for the input! I am saving up my shekels as we speak. Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum!

The LK100D is my favorite guitar in our lineup, as I love that neck. I don't know if you'd call it 'small', as much as it is **comfortable**. The slight 'V' that the Luke neck carve has just seems to fit your hand and feel like a tired and true, long time played guitar. It just has the 'it' factor.
As far as an A/B of the two, when I did our promo photo shoot with Luke, it was in LA at the rehearsal studio that Toto was warming up for their tour last year. He was impressed by the guitar, and couldn't believe that we captured the 'feel' of the LIII at our price point.
In case you haven't seen it, here's a fantastic clip that EBMM produced for us of Luke himself demoing the LK100D in Black Metallic:

To be honest, at the price point. Go with a luke 2. they are selling for a grand used.
ive seen some 3s go for cheep too. its really price point, but if i was you id save

I'd recommend a Luke 2 also, because it has a slightly smaller body, and is marginally lighter. It's very comfortable to play, and if i had the spare cash, I'd buy another ....
