Hello,

I've used 1/4' speaker cables to plug into my amp and play. I have been warned that not all speaker cables work this way. I was wondering if anyone knew if Ernie Ball Speaker Cables (i believe they're called Ultraflex Speaker Cables or something like that) work if you use it to connect your instrument (in my case, a bass) to an amp?

I can't fathom how this ever worked.. an instrument cable (the kind that is supposed to go from guitar to amp) uses shielded cable. There's a single conductor (wire) and then the shield.

Speaker cables have two conductors and no shield.

Are you sure you didn't actually have an instrument cable? The hum/noise ought to be unbearable if the speaker cable was used instead.. and if it did work, I certainly wouldn't advise continuing that practice.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm almost 100% sure i used a speaker cable, but i, of course, may be wrong. Well, thank you for the answer, i appreciate it. I'll be sure to buy an instrument cable.
