hey forumites,

i got a good deal on an Axis today. no, i haven´t bought it yet. i just took her home to think about it and to compare it to my EVH.

do you think she would fit right in my collection?

btw. i was a bit confused about the neck. it is really noticeable that the neck is wider as on the evh.

Joe,

Great for your collection!! Love those MM guitars!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the EVh 1 5/8 at the nut (like the Axis)??:)

the nutwide is the same but towards the body the neck gets wider. i notice the differences are beginning somewhere round the 7th fret.

Perfect companions!!! Yes, the axis neck gets a tiny bit wider than the EVH, but from what I understand, this gives the E strings a tiny bit more real estate to move around (during vibrato or string bending) without the chance of it being pushed over the edge. I can see where that would be an advantage, but personally, I've never had a problem with that.
You need both of those guitars.
Good luck!

Yeah, I notice a difference between my EVH and the Axis necks I've played. They feel more different than the specs would indicate. But it isn't a difference between good and bad. Ironically, it seems EVH owners notice a difference and more times than not Axis owners say they're basically identical. We're probably all full of it...
