Well, take a look at these pictures and compare them to the one in the above post:

Now compare the body sizes on those basses to your regular SRs. The butt is a lot rounder. I suspect this is more like the body of a SR copy with an early EBMM SR neck?

It's hard to see details - man, I detest small photos on an auction - but looks like a normal Stingray to me. Might have a mute assembly on it - who has their glasses on?

It seems quite round, but there has been an evolution in the MM basses (bridge moved a little higher, etc...). I share bovine's idea about the string muters. They have been on the MM basses till '96 or so...

Hm... Well, I took a looksie at the early EBMM basses up on Rod's website. Here're the fruits of my labor:

There're string muters on that bridge too, but the body doesn't look as rounded as it does in that eBay auction. For comparison, here's a SR with the modern bridge:

The bodies look to be about the same size, no?
