Fan neck

has anybody seen those fan neck basses?

the first five frets are slanted inwards, then the next 3 are straightish, then the rest slant out...

is there anywhere where i can get a neck for a MM like that?

I tried one, it was a Dingwall 4 string at my local music store.

At first I was like "this is going to be silly"

After about 15 minutes I was like "Not Bad!!!"

You get used to the fanned fret layout fairly quick. I was really surprised. Would I get one? Only if I hit the lotto and have money to waste on any bass out there

I love my new (purchased from Disquieter) SR4 and my Bongo rocks!!!

I think the fanned fret system that Dingwall use was designed by Ralph Novack.One of the Dingwall Afterburner basses was sitting in a shop here and I got to spend some time on it.I was surprised at how quickly you adapt to fanned frets ( but I spend time on various scaled basses so I am used to switching around). Expensive - but beautiful instruments. Handmade in the Canadian prairies.
