Fine scratches in the clear varnish

If they're fine scratches (meaning you can drag your fingernails across them and not feel anything) you can use any automotive fine scratch and swirl remover. (I use Meguiars Scratch X, and it works great)
The only problem doing this, is that when you're done, the rest of your guitar suddenly looks pretty crappy compared to the nice shiny polished spot you just created!
