First post,Question about weight (sr5)

Hey all,first i must say i have been reading this forum for quite sometime...And it is very informative and the people here are very passionate about there ernie ball products..........and why not they are a fantastic instrument and a great company.I myself own two a 1977 stingray and a 1999 stingray the only instruments i own.soory for the long winded post.My question is i'm looking to buy a 5 string bass and my question is what is the lightest sr5 anybody has played/found.my 77 stingray weighs in at 10lbs and i just got done playing it nonstop for an hour and personally thats long enough.Can i find a sr5 at 10 lbs or lighter.And by the way thanks jack(bovinehost)if you are the one that talked to someone so i could post.It had been a month before i was on the member list.

Hi OT, and welcome to EBF! Judging from the MM SR5 spec page, the SR5 would (normally) come up a 1/2# heavier than the current SR4's.

Assuming that weight is the main issue here, and depending on whether or not you're a die-hard Ray fan (let alone EBMM), you might want to seriously consider the Bongo-5. It weighs in (on average) at 9.5#. While that's not any lighter than an SR4, at least you're not strapping on the extra 1/2#; plus the B5 is comfortable to play.

I have a SUB 5 and, according to EBMM specs, it must be slightly heavier than an SR5.

I made a tiny investment by purchasing a Comfort Strapp. Now with a well balanced position, my bass feels MUCH lighter than before.
