Question Flyrig 5 - opinions?

Hey guys,
Sorry for a non ebmm related content but has anyone tried the Tech 21 flyrig 5 pedal yet?
Heard it recently at The Winery Dogs gig and it sounded so awesome (well, Ritchie made it sound awesome lol) and also with its size and weight it seems like a great alternative to single pedals and multi fx units.
Just wondered if someone could shed some light on how it performs with ebmm guitars or even Boogie amps as many of you guys use them too, just like me. Cheers!

I ve used it with my AL HH and my LukeIII HSS. At home, for a rehersal and for a gig. For this project, I don t need many sounds nor many effects . My Boogie and pedals will stay at home from now on. Very easy to dial great sounds in seconds but you need to tweak when you change guitars to get the best of it. To, me, it gave better results when it was directly plugged in the PA rather than in front of my amp. It is SO easy to use on stage!

Using it directly is what it was designed for. As the name suggests : Sansamp : without amp. It s fun, cheap, convenient and sounds really good. PS I do NOT work for Tech 21.

I was checking these out recently...looks like a great tool for certain situations.

Yeah, Ritchie is an amazing player. I've been following him since the release of 'Inner Galactic Fusion Experience' in 1995, it's surprising how many people know very little about him considering he's a world class guitarist.
Seen the Dogs in Wolverhampton, UK, first row, so close to the guys that Portnoy had to watch where he spits It's where I saw that pedal too, remember everyone commenting a lot on how small his pedalboard is (flyrig+wah) but we all went speachless once we heard it

This is my setup:

Simple and basic and sounds incredible. The Nano Big Muff is for leads, the rest is handled by the FR5, into a powered speaker. Best $249 ever spent.

For you guys that run it direct to the PA, do you just plug it into a direct box?

It has cab simulations that could be turn on or off (off if you use a guitar amp/cab.) The idea was indeed to fly around with a small pedalboard system that might even fit into a guitar case (Richie Kotzen's original concept.) I would like to try one out but no units on sale just now in USA (September/October...)

Straight into the PA! No DI.
Frustrating to receive positive comments about your tone when using this "matchbox" rather than amp, stomboxes... ($$$)
It has to be the musicman that made it sound so good!

I believe it's down to the dealer charges rather than tech 21, as with every piece of gear that's cheap in States and expensive everywhere else.
