Hey Pete!
Just listening to "Today" again and got to thinking about your using in-ear monitors and no amp. I've never done that and have a tough time imagining it. How do you like it compared to running an amp? The bass on the CD sounds so nice and full and smooth. Can you really hear and feel yourself well in those in-ear monitors?
Anybody else care to comment?

When I record, I don't even use an amp. If you're in a good studio, the engineer can make the bass sound however you want it to anyway. I just use headphones, but in-ear monitors would be awesome.

Yes , Yes and Yes :D
July was the best experience yet as well. Playing live with Brian we always use in-ears and it sounds great and full and usually the stage has enough rumble to feel the lo-end but for a few gigs we had the Aviom (sp?) personal monitor system which is a 16 ch. personal mixer www.aviom.com and it was the best monitor experience that I've had in my life!!!! It's nice to just throw some ear plugs in and hear and feel the spl's onstage with amps but in all seriousness if every gig I played could have in-ears with the Aviom system..... I'd never go back to an amp (I'd just spend more money on pre amps and gadgets :D ) Plus the front of house mix is soooo much better and more controllable.
So ya, even cheaper in-ear set ups work well but do take a bit to get used to and you've got to have a reeeeally good engineer on the monitor console. But hey, that's just me and my 2-bits! ;)
