American & International viewers prob won't care much but:

Got an email from Bill Henderson (guitarist, vocalist, keyboards for Chilliwack, producer: Headpins) as I was asking about guitar tone from late Chilliwack and Headpins.

Brian "Too Loud" Mcleod (guitaist) used "Fender Strat through 60 watt Music Man through 2 12's" to get that deep rich tone that characterized his tone.

I miss Brian Mcleod's playing.

Bill Henderson played for Collectors in the 60's (opened for bands like Doors and Jefferson Airplane) and played for a successful band in Canada called Chilliwack. He is a producer now here in Vancouver, plays with UHF and does the traditional 80's band tour now.

I WONDER IF HE IS A LONG LOST RELATIVE!! MY NAME IS BRENT HENDERSON...MAYBE I SHOULD LOOK HIM UP FOR SOME LESSONS. :D
 
Wow, the memories...yeah I liked Brians tone, but his playing was also great, quite the phraser!
 
Wow, a blast from the past. We had Chilliwack play at a Junior High school when I was a kid. Harlequin opened for them. I was about 8 or 9 when I saw them. Cool stuff though, my first rock concert.

Woah! I was listening to Harlequin in the car this morning on the way in. I have been in this flashback of guitar tones i used to love and never knew exactly why! I think now i am starting to "get" some of it! I have always liked the tone in some of the Halrequin stuff. The solo in "Innosence" comes to mind. Man i am getting old

The Headpin's MP3 is not that good.


He was an awesome guitarist. I only saw them (Headpins) once in Prince George with Toronto (anyone remember Toronto?) in summer 1982. Headpins just blew them away. My buddies and I joked that it would be funny to see Darby Mills beat up Anne Woods in a catfight on stage


I still see are April Wine whenever they are in town. They are not as loud as they used to be but Brian Greenway still plays good.

Rush is still good. I was watching Trailer Park Boys and Jullian kidnapped Alex Lifeson. It was prety funny.

I missed tha one, sounds hilarious. Speaking of Canadaian artists, awhile ago I posted a thread on the guitarist from Saga IAN CRICHTON. Man I love his style and tone. He also plays an EBMM Silo!

Where in Canada are you from?

Yeah! Saw that one. Very amusing.

Turns out "bubbles" was in a band that got some airplay in Toronto years ago.

Anyone remember Goddo? Let's have some more I am trying to remember those bands now.

BTO, Max Webster/Kim Mitchell, oh what about Red Rider...Hey I'm going off the DEEP end here in Ottawa in June...man I cannot wait to see Master morse...Booyah!

Hey Max Webster played my highschool and Kim Mitchell is a DJ on Q107 now.

Remember Triumph? - you can still catch Rik Emmet playing small concerts around town.

Emmet and Morse played together back in '87 at the Guitarfest, then they were joined by Kim Mitchell for Train Kept a Rollin. You might still catch the video on TVO once in a while.

Yes Anvil is Canadian and I believe they are still touring. When I went to Humber College in Toronto, Rick Emmet made a guest appearance for the music program...man I couldn't even get to my class, it was packed. Rick's another superb player!

Only in the summer, in winter we're more likely to burn them. Not to mention we're usually too busy building our igloos and eating poutine. ;)


As for bands, don't forget Helix... gimme an R, O ... etc...
 
I will dismantle my house from the inside - out and burn it piece by piece ala reserve style before I burn my guitars.

I saw BTO and Red Rider open for Van Halen for the 5150 tour.

Randy was looking pretty rough then. His excess was hanging over the guitar and the strat looked really small on him.

He is looking much better now.
