Fret Burr Question

So I was playing the Bongo tonight, woodshedding 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road', when I noticed something was kind of catching the skin on my left index finger...it was the first fret.

I've never noticed this before, so I checked to make sure the fret wasn't coming out; not the problem. Apparently, it's just a rough edge; not too bad...just noticeable.

Does anybody know how to fix this problem at home w/o damaging the neck or fretboard. I'll take it to the shop if necessary, but since it's my only bass (at the moment), that's down-time from gigs.

Is this something that *needs* to be repaired, or am I just overreacting?

Any Repair Shop can fix this while you wait. Very easy fix or also Stu Mac Makes a triangle File Specialy designed for this problem, As the wood drys and shirinks frets stick out which is 100% normal and any wooden Instrument.

This is a file I keep with my fret files and a must to have with any Instrument, So if i we're you I'd just purchase 1 and take 5 minutes and fix it.

I went to the site (Stewart-MacDonald); it has everything you need to do your own luthier work.

Still not sure if I have the cajones to do this w/o screwing up the fretboard, but good info just the same.

Could be, but I don't see fret burr as a warranty issue; just normal wear-and-tear that comes out of pocket anyway.

Unless it is considered a warranty issue, and my local dealer that sold it to me is able/authorized to do the work, I don't want the shipping hassle/costs or extra down-time of sending it to SLO for such a minor issue.

Besides, I'm not too worried about my EBMM having any real warranty issues that I may void; just too damn reliable!

As many Ernie Balls as I own and Buy, I've never had to use the warranty ever.
But the paper looks good. Maybe we should Tell Poppa to save the paper so we can get more wood for cool Necks, hehehehe

Well that's where i get all my Files from, Them and Grizzly but all the fret files from Stu Mac.
