Fretless decision!

hey guys

I need advice on which one I should get. I played a really nice fretless stingray this weekend and loved it. I was in the market for a sterling, so this is where I need help. I like the neck on a sterling for its size. Would the playability of the sterling be the same as a fretted one.

I have a stingray right now and dont really want another, but I will if I need to.

Can anyone who has a fretless sterling let me know, especially if its single/double for the pickups.

I am currently calling around and will be ordering very soon. I want it to my specs.

Well, think about this. How often will you use a fretless? Will it be an every gig thing or something you'll just have lying around for when the time comes? I, eventually, get a fretless but it'll be just for that. Whenever the time calls for it. It just depends on what you need.

If you like a sterling neck, get a sterling. Easy enough.

My 1996 fretless Sterling is all I'm playing right now. In fact, it's only bass I currently own. I sold off my Stingray5 to raise funds for a Dingwall AfterburnerII 5-string...I know I know....I was that impressed when I played my friend's through my eden rig.

I played last weekend at my church's 4 worship services. We ran through some varied styles: funk groove shout music, praise rock, and some slower contemporary songs - the Sterling fit in just right. 99% of the time I played it the same I would a fretted bass, rather than trying to make it sound fretless. Of course some licks I got in had some nice fretless touches (down slides & such).

I imagine a fretless sterling will play similiarly to a fretted one. My next ebmm will probably be a fretless.

I would probably put the stingray away for a while. I really want to learn to play a fretless and thats the only way to do it.

Im really starting to think sterling fretless in a honey burst.

Well I guess Ill start calling around and getting prices. Ive found a few dealers in my neck of the woods.

IMHO, honeyburst is the perfect color for a fretless. When I get to order a fretless. It'll be a single H fretless SR5 w/ piezo. Honeyburst. White pearloid. Unlined. Matching headstock.

I have both a fretted and fretless Sterlings, both are excellent basses, buy a Sterling, you can't go wrong.
