Fretless-eriffic!

i dont see why it couldnt be. just take out whatever was put in the fret slots and then put frets back in. if its impossible or more complex than that i dont know. but that seems how it would go down to me.
 
Of course, by then your neck would've been thoroughly cut up and beaten to a sappy pulp, no? :p
 
I had a local luthier who is very reputatble tell me he could re-fret my Jazz Bass that he de-fretted for me.

oh ya baby! The fretless Bongo is still on order, that'll get the stable up to 2 fretted and 2 fretless 5s and an upright..... a good start I think. And yes, that's my little girl Abigail, she was deciding to start to kick around the small pile of leaves that my neighbour had raked :D
the SR5 fretless is good but I'm looking forward to the flexibility of the Bongo fretless too, plus when it comes then i can really Frakenstein my SR5 by stringing it E-C with a hipshot on the E string and possibly an Aguilar 3 band pre with an Aero p/u AND possibly move the p/u one coil closer to the neck...... hmmmm ........ have I gone totally mad??.... :eek:

Heh, not mad at all. As one of the few owners of fretless Bongi, I can tell you that it is quite simply the fiest fretless I've ever played. 8 hours of gigs this last weekend, and I was able to get sooo many sounds out of it, it wasn't even funny. Heck--the fretted Bongo didn't even make it out of the DubBag on Saturday night.

I like your plan to string the Stingray up E-C, too. I've got my refinished Curbow coming back today, or Wednesday (depending on what Dolan meant by "three days"), and it was set up E-C with TI Flats. Yummy! That's actually the plan for my next Bongo, too--a single humbucker/piezo fretless in Desert Gold with E-C flats. Two new basses in a week, and I'm GASsing for another. It's sad, isn't it?
