Fumbling around with my new camera: The Star-Spangled Banner

Hi everybody.

Last weekend I bought a nice digital camera and now that my vacation time has officially started (excluding the gigs, of course) I want to spend some time with it. That's why I've just recorded a video of me in my working room playing my version of Stu Hamm's arrangement of The Star-Spangled Banner with my Bongo (phew! What a title!). Sorry for not showing my face, but I think that's the least important thing (insert the usual "mistakes warning" here).

As some of you already know, I'm really happy to offer my limited knowledge. If I can help by posting a video (hands and time permitting, of course), you can count on that. I highly encourage fellow MusicMan players who have this possibility to share it with the rest of our community.

Yeah, if my hands could do that, I wouldn't worry about my face either :D

Thanks for sharing, man.

Hotshirt. You nailed it.

Yo, pitters ........ does not this man deserve a decent pickguard?
Surely something can be done.

We salute you Alvabass! Isn't it ironic/awesome that a Colombian just shredded the "Star Spangled Banner"? That was great playing, Alvabass! :)

Thank you everybody for your nice comments. BTW, Beth, I've wanted for a long time to incorporate this piece into my teaching program, but I've found stupid people who say (not nicely) "why don't you teach the Colombian anthem instead?". I'd like to make them understand that it's about music. About overcoming certain problems that may appear when playing and about expanding the musicianship, not about nations or boundaries. Some people understand that, some don't (and that really pisses me off).

Thank you again! Just a long-time humble effort that I wanted to share. :)

That is just brilliant!
I'll holler for a transcription once I'm done with eruption. I have until mid-January, right:D

That's why I've never transcribed this, but you can find it here. Although haven't checked those transcriptions, I'm pretty sure I don't play this piece as indicated there since I based my performance on Stu's 2nd instructional video and he recorded it a bit different for his "Outbound" CD.
