I bought my guitar to use. But..... as they're a limited run, the previous owner kept it boxed and untouched.

Small amount of guilt invloved in playing it.

The guitar is 3 years old and there's still the plastic protection on the finger board. Shall I just remove this and enjoy?

Play it and enjoy. I always try and take good care of my guitars and be careful to not ding them up or scratch them up, but at the end of the day it is meant to be played. Rock out and shred away.

It's a guitar, it's there to be played. Besides, at the end of the day it's just a different finish. It's not like it's a one off made of unobtanium with unicorn hair strings.

Whats the point in owning a guitar if you never play it? Ok, i am carefull with my stuff, but i rather use my guitars and risk damaging them, then put em in their cases.

Look at it this way, musicians play immensely valuable Stradivarius instruments all the time.

Open that case and play away.

Just to add a little response variety:

Nope. Put it away, never touch it and find a new hobby. :p

(I'm not one to criticize. I did exactly that with my DD1 Luke....except I didn't find a new hobby.)

And if you want the DDI Luke to be played you know where to send it:D:):p

Play it play it play it. When not being played put it back in the case. This will not be your last Ball...

Guitars are made to be played. I used to be way too precious about my guitars and that prevented me from fully enjoying them. No longer...

So it's pretty unanimous :D

So tomorrow I'll do the official unveiling of the pickguard if I'm able to pluck up enough courage :) and play the thing, because if I don't, somehow else will when I'm gone.
