when they where designing basses
did they ever look at any type of statistics of what people liked and want to see
or did they just kinda wing it and make a product that was never waaay out there?

Hoo boy! How about...

We know that the parting of CLF and Music Man in 1979 was somewhat acrimonius. What is George's opinion of the quality of Music Man instruments in the transitional period before Ernie Ball bought Music Man out and following the takeover?

how about his take on current trends and what he figures might be modern day "snake oil" aspects to the onslaught of custom made instruments. Like how some "custom" builders will list the use of the 'exotic tone wood Alder' ......... it is a good tone wood but highly non-exotic.
