George Lynch Screaming Deamon in a Silo, Yes or No?

Hi,

I got this pickup in my drawer sitting there... and I was thinking of maybe should I use it on my Silo.

I don't like that much the Paf Pro in the bridge position as I do in the neck position, I'd like to get something fatter with more balls and more sustain in the bridge position... would that be a good pickup or do you have other suggestions?

I'd like to put something that would boost the beast... an interesting way of putting it...

please help...

Throw that bad boy in there and see what happens! Everyone has such varied tastes on p-ups and depending on your amp set up, that same p-up used with someone else's rig may sound tonally different than yours. I must say that that p-up you own is bad-a$$ though!
 
..hi..

..dont know about the screamin demon, but i just equipped my silo with an invader in the bridge and a full shred in the neck and its not better or worse but just my silo has become just another guitar (more of a true heavy rock/metal axe)..

..having put a dm hs-2 in the middle and having them all enabled to being split individually i get a whole bunch of sounds..

..just get an exchange pickguard and get it on..

..by the way...the silo has 250k pots, so maybe the screamin demon gets a little dark....if so, just chnage them to 500k or 1m pots..
 
I love George Lynch as a player. I even fished out "Under lock and key " from the early dokken days today.... mmmmmmm dated!

Screamin Deamon is an amazing pickup - my mate lum (who's about to join the forum 'cuase he's also lusting after a y2d) had most of the lynch models,

But dude, leave your silo be!
 
Ya know, the good thing about that Silo is that it will accomodate pretty much any hot output pickup!! Try a Super Distortion (the "hall of fame" pickup!!)

Yeah, PAF Pro's are cool too - crunchyyyyyyyyyyyy!!
 
I hated the Screamin demon when I bought one...probably the worst sounding pickup I ever bought. I tried a JB in my Axis and it had an aweful nasal honk to it

I would suggest a Duncan Distortion, Custom, '59, or a Dimarzio Tone Zone...the '59 would be my choice;)
 
Personally, for rock/metal tone, the PAF in the bridge doesn't do it for me at all. If that's what you are going for, I'd say definitely try it out, along with some other hums. The PAF is a great pickup in it's own right, but it doesn't go for high gain rythem work.

And also, if you want to use the Silo for metal or heavy rock, it could stand to gain a little bit of darkness. I'd leave the pots be :cool:

I'll definitely try the pickup... if it doesn't work, then I'll think of another Dimarzio to couple with...

The humbucker tone on those seems like it'd do heavy sounds very well, and you get those awesome P90 and single coil tones as well! They are cheaper than you might think, too :cool:
 
Hi BetaCAM, looking forward to hear your Screamin Demon in Silo, well I bet it will sound great. me personally always keep my guitars in original condition though.
 
Well,

After experiencing with some seymour duncans in the past my impression was that they have a more organic tone to them, and Dimarzios have more modern distortion with less emphasis on clean sounds as being more classic Paf like...

Even the Dimebucker that's supposed to be a metal pickup has this character that reminds me of the classic paf, where on Dimarzio even the Paf Classic doesn't sound like one, the distorted tones sound pretty much like any Dimarzio from the Paf Pro era and above...

So question is if I could get a warmer distortion tone from the George Lynch, without sacrificing the clean sound... I like the Stratish character the Silo has...

We'll just have to try and see...
