Gig pics

Hi everybody.

I've just played a super-cool hard rock gig and I wanted to share some Bongo-In-Action pics with all of you. We were invited to play in an event that just took place in one of the universities I work with, and played a 10-song set:

- You Shook Me All Night Long
- Rock And Roll (Led Zep)
- Sure Know Something (Kiss)
- Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
- Salir A Asustar (great rock/funk tune by an awesome argentinean band called "Divididos")
- Back In Black
- Deuce (Kiss)
- The Trooper
- Aces High
- Black Diamond (Kiss)

For the Maiden tunes, the singer, who is also an accomplished guitar player, took the second guitar duties. This gig was sort of an ecstasy to me (as pictures prove) because I really love this music and there are not so many chances to play these kinds of gigs here. Not so great pictures, but anyway, a valuable document to me.

Call me anti-patriotic, but in all honesty, I don't like that music (although Luis Angel Pastor "El Papa" -Carlos Vives' bassist- is an awesome player).

I saw them live a few years back and was impressed with El Papa. He seemed to be leading the band. I like that!

I won't call you unpatriotic, but you don't love Carlos Vives??? My wife would divorce me if I didn't love Carlos, man.

Oh, of course I like the band! Great show onstage! It's just that those fusions aren't my cup of tea. For tropical music, give me good old Salsa.

Si, amigo, a mi me gusta mucho la salsa. Pero mi esposa dice que soy 'del campo' porque me gusta tanto la musica....pero no me importa. Ella es un poco, como se dice? Ah, si, "snobby", no?

Extrano mucho los dias cuando vivia en Miami, todas las estrellas de salsa tocaban ahi en calle ocho....

Pero Carlos? Es un dios en nuestra casa.

Well, don't. I miss South America sometimes, too, but then I remember how hard it was to get anything done....and then the crime, the traffic, the assassinations, the poverty, etc etc.


So when I talk about missing Miami, remember that I could have stayed there but decided not to.

One of these days, though, we have to discuss why Colombians insist on using the 'usted' with.....well, even the dog.

But that's changing, man. I'm one of those old-schoolers that never use "tú". Not even with my mom! Only with my girlfriends and ex-wives (2). "Tú" is now so common among young people (specially girls), but I've seen that most of my male friends always talk of "usted", except with attractive women. That's very ridiculous to me.

Well, tell me through a PM if you don't mind. I've got to order a new strap for my SR5 for when it comes in.

I had a girlfriend (years ago) from Bogota and she was kind of stunned that I was so casual. "Tu" is the norm for me, and sometimes it's dangerous...like with my father-in-law, at first. But I learned my spanish in Miami, where everyone uses the 'tu' form. It took me a long time to figure out that I was actually offending people.

Pero que raro (para mi) que estaba, como diriamas, pues, 'familiar' con esa chica, y ella siempre usaba 'usted' cuando era claro que ya eramos pues novios, sabes?

La primera vez que fui a tu pais.....pues, vamos a decir que me sorprendio mucho.

But let's admit it....Colombian girls? They really are amazing.

Not so many options here. That's a black Planet Waves strap. I like it, but I know there are so much better options out there. I used to like leather straps, but they start smelling so bad after some time.
