Good file for fret sprout - this one?

Hey guys, even with the humidity straightened out in my house, my AL's frets are still a little sprouty - would this be the best tool to use to file them down?

no....too dangerous....that file is just for gently shaping the edge of the frets..... you will probably hit the fingerboard and/or the side of the neck trying to cut the fret back....

i just use a fingerboard leveling flat file that only cuts one way......but i would not try it if you don't have experience. the file above looks pretty safe......although i think the angle of the jig is too much.

I've used that file on several guitars to address fret sprout (the fret end dressing one). With the "safe" edge against the neck, it's hard to screw up. Just take your time and realize you don't have to muscle it.

On the other hard, if you'd be mortified if you did put a microscopic ding on the neck of your guitar, then have the local tech do it -- it wouldn't cost a great deal.
