As most of you know, Im a gear whore.

However Ive had the feeling that If I got a good StingRay 5 or another Bongo 5 , I may slow down for a while. After reviewing my finanaces, I am ahead on all my bills, and just sold off my last F****r. So at some point this week I shall be purchasing the StingRay 5 or Bongo 5 of my choice.

Im going to the Atlanta GC, and if they have somthing I like Im gonna grab it. If not Im calling Bass Central.

I hope you all feel my excitement.

My question is this. I have a Single H Bongo 5. Should I get a Bongo 5 of another pickup config, or a StingRay 5?? And Im not dropping the cash for piezos.

I'm curious how similar the bongo 5 h sounds to a stingray 5. I've thought about getting a Bongo 5 HS ...but there's a Egyptian Smoke SR5 at my local guitar center that is really tempting me. So I don't know if I'd be much help 'cause I can't make my own mind up.

Here they are:

carbon Blue Pearl Bongo 5 (SC/H), white pg

Egyptian Smoke StingRay 5, rosewood, python pg, matching headstock

Copper Bronze StingRay 5, one of the rarer ones with the washed copper pickguard

wish I would've read the thread first before voting... I'd personally go for the copper SR5 just because I think that's a great colour.
but aside from that, I think the H/SC Bongo 5 would be a good call.

have fun!

I didnt like them at first ( matching headstocks ), but now I really like them a lot. It adds a nice touch.

disclaimer: the look of matching headstcoks scare me and BONGS scare me more (although they do play like a dream)

So bongs scare ya huh? :D Freudian slip perhaps? Well atleast you didn't mention a stinggay.

Where is there a Pearl Blue Bongo SC/H 5 string? I'd like to check it out...At the N Druid Hills GC? Is my old white SC/H/P still there? I should stop by on my way home from work soon....

If you end up with this one, I've got a mint guard that I think would look pretty killer with the pearl blue that I'm selling.

I'm a big fan of the SC/H Bongo's sound. Of course, I enjoy the SC soloed with some piezo added, so YMMV.

Yep, the carbon blue pearl is at North Druid Hills. And your old Bongo is still there. I played it last time and it SMOKES. I havent completely ruled that one out either. I just dont know if I wanna fork the dough for the piezos.

Hmmmm..... gear whore ahead on his bills......sounds like an oxymoron to me! :D Most gear whores I know are up to their eyeballs in debt (myself not discluded)!
Anyway I'd say go for that copper SR5. I love that washed copper p/g. I think it's a unique enough finish that you may want to keep it longer than a couple of weeks! :p
