Got a new dual pick up model.......?

Ok some of us have had a little bit of time to get over the initial excitement of our new acquisitions, so what do you think?

• Digging the pickup combinations?
  
• What is your favorite position (s) (hey now!!!)?
  
• What do you think of the new pickup covers?
  
• What do you think about the new intonation nut?

I have a SR4 HH in buttertcream, and I find myself liking it more and more each day. Having the standard, classic , stingray tone + 4, is a wonderful experience

• Position 1: Stingray tone to the bone!!!!
  
• Position 2: Reminds me a lot of a Jazz Bass type tone.
  
• Position 3: Is like the classic stingray tone, minus some of the mid, compensated with more low end. I can see slappers really digging the bouncy vibe you get in this position
  
• Position 4: I really like as well, but I can't put my finger on an example of what it might sound like?
  
• Position 5: Again, can't quite place it. I have been rolling off some of the treble in this position for a nice smooth tone.

each position sounds very different from the others, and all sound great to my ears!

My favorite positions so far are, 1 (duh) 2, and 3

All that said, I think the EB/Musicman sound in evident in all positions. I am not the most educated in the world of bass, so I am wondering what more informed players have to say.

I really think Leo and Ernie have to be proud up in the promised land about this one!!!!!!

FYI: I was told by a little EBMM birdie, that the neck pick up is almost exactly the same as the regular stingray pickup, only it is wound slightly different.

I don't own one (but that won't last long) but played one a couple of times and I think you are pretty dead on with your description of tones. About positions 4 and 5- I thought position 4 sounded similiar to a Kubicki. For those who have ever played a Kubicki, it has a very distiguishable tone that IS the Kubicki tone. IMO, position 4 sounded a lot like that with a nice balance of punchy, clean low end and high mid clarity. Position 5 has that P bass like tone only with the added muscle of an MM pick-up. 1, 3 and 4 were my faves- they sounded great for everything. I'll join the club soon.

I've tried out a SR4 HH at GC for a few minutes and found the neck-only selection with the highs rolled off to be very nice.

Nope...that's because in that setting it's like going from mono to stereo...it pulls everything together to my ears.

Hmmm trying to get pun...let's see...if it was indeed a "5-way" and you eliminated the "switch" then it would only be a "4-way" no??
