So, I went into my local GC to pick up a Firebox to use with my new computer and I wandered into the bass room to see if they still had the HH Stingrays they had the last time I was in there. I didn't see them, but as I was scanning the basses, I noticed a Sterling that happened to have a SC pickup in the neck position.

Natural finish, maple fretboard, tort guard, voice of God....

While the tiny little Sterling neck made my hand cramp in about 5 minutes, the tone made me really, really, really glad that it wasn't a Stingray 5 with the SC/H config. If you like the Sterlings, you owe it to yourself to check out the SC/H setup.

I was impressed with the HH setup, but like the Bongos, I can definitely say that I prefer the SC/H setup when it comes to two pickup Musicman basses.

Good job, guys!

The HH SR5 I played a few days ago just killed.

I like the HSC configuration....I'm glad I don't have to choose between the two, frankly, because I don't know what I'd do.

You guys know the solution, don't you?

There's something really sexy and right about the SC/H Sterling pictures I've seen. I'd imagine they sound killer, too.

To venture off topic, Cubase does suck!

Figgy, you're safe. The SR5 HH I played the other day was covered in drool by the time I was done.

You're going to freak out, swallow your tongue, watch Fox news, etc.

I dont even need tonal options. Once i find my tone , i dont really touch anything. Im weird like that. For some reason ive seriosuyl NEVER altered my tone like mid set or anything.

Itll just give me more options to FIND that tone. WOuldnt it be funny if i used setting 1, and defeated the purpose of getting a HH? :p

Who knows, maybe ill become a tone twiddler once i get this bass.

There is soooo much to twiddle with I think you will start playing around with it (honestly, the bridge pup growel with the neck pup boom is incredible)!

Well, you already know that I'm a "find a good tone and forget about it" kind of guy.

But every room is different. That's a big reason to have tonal options.

And sometimes I'll be playing something hot and rockin' and crank it all the way back to the bridge pickup....then we do some cryin' in your martini song, and it's the easiest thing in the world to just roll it forward to the bridge pickup.

It really is nice to be able to do that.

Fingers got ahead of my brain, I reckon.

I mean 'roll up to the neck pickup' of course.

You'd think you could blame the martinis, but no, it wasn't even that.
