So, i was reading guitar one the other day, and came across the article regarding geetar picks....actually it was about the jazz 3's. I was curious as to how many of u use this pick. Personally i've tried a few times to get into them but i tend to sweat with my picking hand and they always seem to fly out lol. Guess it's cuz of the size, who knows. I even tried using gorilla snot once lol. Personally i use dunlop tortex 60 mm i like to have flexability with my pick when doin acoustic work. I was here watching some bad tv so i figured id try to post something little out of the ordinary lol.

Love the Jazz III's. I used to use Dunlop Gator Grip 2mm picks but decided about 6 months ago to try the J3's - I didn't like them at first but love them now. Gotta be the black ones, though! :D

Jappy, there's no difference between black and red Jazz III's, except that red is faster of course.

Actually, I believe they are made out of different materials. If you "feel" hard, you will notice that the red ones (the superior ones, of course ;) ) are made out of a slicker material than the black ones, or at least, it seems this way to me. Maybe it's just in my head, but I find the black ones give you more grip - on your fingers AND on your strings. I need the red to help make up for my naturally slow right hand technique.

i think they may have changed the way the make them, cos i have some old ones that are different as you say Norrin, and they are red. New ones i see are kinda slippery, black or red. I prefer the grippier ones for sure, but i cant find them anywhere anymore.

I've got some black grippies I'm not using. What's your address??? (obviously don't post it here!!!)

the way i go through picks, they would last me 2 days Norrin! No bother, i dont really mind the new ones, though i do drop them on stage a lot, i have to bring 20 to a gig. i get them back though when i do drop them, the crowd just hand them back to me, i guess i'm not famous or good enough that they would keep them!!!!!

How much per pick does it work out to be?

I bought one for $1.00 the other day (simply because JP uses them!) but they are actually very nice picks, and I'm considering buying more of them.

I used to use the black Jazz III's. Didn't like the material the red ones were made of. Anyway, they made for faster and cleaner picking, but were weak in the tone area. I actually use Ernie Ball picks now. They have better feel and a girthier tone.

Black Jazz III. I like the abrasive texture. Great for chunky, distorted stuff. The red ones feel too soft for me.

Before that, I used F3nder Extra Heavy.

I use the heavy Tortex Jazz III's. It seems easier to grip than the nylon black and red ones. They're just a little hard to find locally for some odd reason, so I tend to get them online.

I've used the Jazz III for many years but lately been using the Dunlop Stubby 1MM
at times. They have a lot softer of a feel. a real quiet attack no pick sound at all

I use the Jazz 3's. Black or Red. From my experience with them the black ones have more grip / rough surface and the red ones are nice and smooth. When I play live I guess it depends on the song we are playing, most of the night I am happy with the black....but when we play something like let there be rock by AC/DC I will grab a red one cos I get the "ego / do anything you want / as fast as you want" shred solo that ends all solo's....or at least it ends the gig hahaha. :p
