Hi! Anybody have an opinion on this? My soon to be 4 year old is music crazy, plays my AL when I let him, the acoustic, the mandolin and of course air-guitar. We are thinking about getting him a 1/2 size electric. Its not that I think this is serious or that he can play anything righ now, just that it would be nice for him to have something that is more his size and that I don´t worry about.

There were some promo spiderman II guitars doing the rounds on ebay with built in amps - I bought one for my son (he's not 2 yet but I couldn't resist) - there's probably 1/4 scale - fully playable -but no truss rod - you should pick one up for around $30...... you might be looking for something a bit more - but hope that helps/

Last Christmas I got my daughters 4 & 7 a $50 guitar pack, case, amp, guitar and a few other things. When they are that young, anything and everything sounds good to them.

Thanks for the input.

I checked out the pignose, very cool...but it is close to normal scale. I might just ebay it and take a chance on those kits...there are enough on there.

And BTW, I found on the net a few places that state that 1/2 scale is good for 4 to 6 year olds. Not sure how correct that is, but its a starting point.

How about one of those mini strats that are starting to flood GC? They're about a $100 or less and are a bit smaller than normal. It fits my 3 year old daughter okay so I figure your 4 year old boy is probably ready for one.

I've seen some of those over in the UK, makes me think that having kids might not be as bad as I originally thought!!:)

The strat copies are actually OK. Fun to play. Yamaha do a nice little 3/4 size guitar but most ofthe half size ones have real tuning problems as you need pretty thick strings to stop note bends going over an octave!!! And the thick strings then seem to bow the necks.

Whatever you do, avoid the £30 one in Toys r Us. You could drive a car under the action and it'll put your kids off for life!!!
