Hi guys,

I just bought a musicman L3.
I would like to hang it on the wall.. I'm awaiting response from customer service, but i would like to have your opinion as well.

Is there anything wrong for my musicman Lukes to hang them on the wall (vertical, held by the head)? (for the neck, the head, straightness, idk...)

What is the best wall support ?

Thanks,

Nicolas

No. No problem at all. The string tension is applying a force to the neck of about 90 lbs / 40 kg. When you hang the guitar, you are adding an additional force equal to the weight of the guitar body, about 6 lbs / 2 kg. It's not a big deal at all.

Besides, would hundreds of thousands of music stores all over the world be hanging guitars by the neck for the last 5 decades if it was a problem?

And that L3 will spend hopefully spend more time in your hands than on the wall!

Welcome to the forum! And btw, your guitar doesn't exist without pictures! :)

No problem what so ever. I would advise not hanging guitars on a wall facing outdoors due to temperature issues. I have seen some nasty cracks on guitars hanging on a cold wall during winter. Constant temperature/humidity is always preferred.
Here's a pic of some of my guitars hanging in my livingroom vägg2.jpg

Now THAT'S an analysis. Thanks for that one.

Wow, what a nice case!

I think hanging them is just fine. Here's how I hang mine in my studio. This is an old pic, I sold most of these, and now the rack is full of Balls. Gotta get a new pic.

Most important is that your hanger is securely attached to the wall... Best to go into a stud, or have a wood rail that is attached to studs that you can then anchor hangers from... Also dead on above... Avoid outside walls.

The back of my cabinet is all reclaimed barnwood With 3/4" thick sheet plywood behind it. The barnwood is fastened to the studs, and my hangers are screwed in with 3" steel self tappers. The hangers are Hercules GSP40B's.

Looks like a tropical guitar tank!

It's just LED strip lighting. Here's an ambient light shot:

Maybe we should see a doctor for having more than 2 balls.

I don't see how having more than 2 balls is a problem!

I never noticed seeing your storage setup that you have glass in front. How do you access the guitars? Is the glass on a hinge of some kind?

It's two panes of tempered glass. They ride on independent ball bearing rails inside a "U" shaped channel... Like a trophy case.
