Hello everybody :)

I have a Musicman Luke and I used to tune it in standard Eb using 10-46 strings. A week ago I decided to tune it in standard D (like my other guitars), but using the same gauge strings and ,yes, the strings feel rubbery, sloppy. So, I'll have to use 11-48 strings.

My question is:
Considering the fact that the Luke has small frets, will the heavier (11's) strings be "harmful" for those frets, wearing them down pretty fast?

Thank you in advance!

Fret wear is one of those facts of life you learn to live with. The only way to avoid it is not to play. But I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that heavier strings wear down frets faster. I certainly would not expect a significant difference and it's not an issue you need to worry about. Relax and enjoy your Luke!
