I was taking my JP6 to the music store for a set up and the case latches gave way, and the guitar took a spill.

It's now got a nasty gash on the front :(

anyone know if Ernie Ball would let me ship the the guitar for a refinish, or do you guys think they don't do that sort of thing?

thanks

-Chris

thanks for the info, looks like I am going to have to ebay it and search for an EB dealer :(

can anyone recommend a good dealer I should contact?

there are no local dealers, I bought mine on ebay a few months ago.

Well there are alot of well informed brethren on the forum they could possibly point u in the direction of a trusted refinisher in your area.

call ernie ball customer service. selling u a NEW body MAY be an option under the condition that they get your dinged body.......but they make that call. nobody on the forum can make that decision. & they don't do refins.
u will hear 99 different ways to patch it..or touch it up.........but for it to be invisible....u will need to refin the whole body.....or replace it. to refin the whole body by a pro......u will will spend i'm gonna guess about 3-5 hundred bucks. then u gotta gamble that the "PRO" is really a pro.
sorry bout yer luck.......&
good luck.

that's not a bad idea!

I will definitely call EB up and see if they can work something out with me. I don't know if that would be possible though b/c my body is a buttercreme which is no longer made :\

I'll call and find out.

I was prepared to drop $500 on a refinish, but only for it to be done by a reputable shop that will be able to match the paint

thanks for the input

Which case was it? Did the previous owner damage it that bad for it to just come off like that?

it was the original case, but the previous owner shipped it to me locked and I had to break the locks on the outside ends of the case.

I had the middle latch shut, but I guess that wasn't enough to keep it closed.

it was my fault, I just didn't expect it and now I'm really bummed :(

Sheesh. That's really bad luck. Id get in touch with whoever sold it to you. They should have provided a key for the case. Any chance of a pic to see how bad the damage is? Does it still play and sound ok? Could it not just be left as a "war wound"?
