Hey guys I need help with my Luke. I love my Luke to death, its the best guitar i've ever played, but somehow i dont know why its getting like this hum sound when im playing thru my Pod XT at church. I using my friends strat thru my Pod and I didnt have problem with the other guitar, that sound only happens with my Luke, and I really need to fix this because im going to be recording a live album. Please guys I need your help, thanks for your time.
 
Do you get the hum on other amps, or just the Pod?

If you get the hum on other amps, it's probably just a ground that's come loose and should be an easy fix.

Bring it to a tech and have them fix it, of course! :p

OR, get to work with a soldering iron and be ready to do some detective work. :(
 
It's really not hard at all, but if you're not comfortable with an iron, this is probably not the guitar you want to learn on.;) Assuming that you have confirmed the hum follws the guitar when you play it through other amps, you can check your ground points with a multimeter to see which one has come loose. If any of this sounds foreign to you, just take it to a qualified tech and let him or her fix it. If possible, see if you can watch them do it and learn what you can. Get them to explain what they're doing also, as this knowledge can only help you in the future.:)
 
emg's don't use a ground the same way passive systems do.
before u go pokin around in an active system......youd better talk to customer service if u want the warranty to stay in place.

also........that guitar puts out ALOT more gain than a standard strat.
does it do it in a real amp ?????
 
Tommy is right, ignore me pastrami. I completely forgot the Luke has EMG's. :o It could be the Pod being slammed by the high output. Or Mick may be closer. Could be church, cause I've heard EMG's are really the Devil.:p

Just having fun. I'll stop advising late at night without my facts straight.
 
Could be a few things: a low battery, induced hum interference (even the EMGs will pick up hum from florescent lights, etc.) or more likely a ground loop.

Battery: try a new battery and see if that fixes things. Your EMGs will eventually become passive and hum when the battery dies.

RFI/hum: changing the environment that you play in should have an effect. Crank up the threshold on your noise gate or turn down the gain on your Pod's Amp setting :D

Ground loop: work through your signal path. Any effects before the Pod? Sometimes multiple power supplies will cause a ground loop. At church, plug directly into the Pod (nothing in front), unplug from the PA or amp and plug in a pair of headphones. Still hear the noise, or does it only appear when you plug the Pod into the PA/amp?

Just one of those things ya gotta work away at.
