I've been reading these forums for about a year now, and thought it might be time to register. Here's a small introduction:

I live in a city called Trondheim in Norway, where I attend the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. At the moment I play in two bands. Bad Dreams is an 80's hard rock/metal cover band. TOB - The Other Band, is one of two "house bands" at the student village where I live. We do all sorts of covers, and are the default opening act for the other "house band" called THE. I play a 2003 EB MM StingRay5, natural finish, shell pickguard, rosewood fingerboard. I have two amps, one Ashdown ABM 500 EVO II and an Ampeg B2R I use as a backup. My cab is an Eden D210XLT. For effects I use a Boss ME-50B multi FX board, and an Aphex 1402. I also use a Boss TU-2 tuner for when I don't have my ME-50B with me. My practice combo is a Tech21 Landmark 60 that I have modified with metal hi-fi spikes to get a more focused sound. That's about it. I'm also a member over at www.activebass.com under my real name, Thor Iversen. I might as well make an exuse for my english right away. English isn't my native language, so don't get too PO'ed if you spot some mistakes in my posts. Nice to meet you all!

Cheers!

Welcome, Thor. Your English is much better than my Norwegian, I assure you, so no problems there! (And Norwegian is HARD, I know that much.)

I'm looking forward to the Viking outlook. We've been mighty short on that sort of thing.

Thanks for the welcome. Now that you mention it, I haven't seen too many, if any, scandinavians here. Maybe it's because MusicMan basses are so overpriced in Scandinavia (I got mine from Mike's Music in Ontario, Canada).

Welcome Thor!

As for your english language skills, most of us here probably can't even spell scande... skando....scendino...that place you're from. Hope to hear more from you soon.

Larry

Hehe..that's cool. Scandinavia is just a name for a small group of countries, just like Europe is. Sweden, Norway and Denmark are known as Scandinavia. :D

Welcome to the board. And your English? It's better than some native English speakers' on this board so don't get too apologetic! ;)

Welcome! I love your bass already, I've got a 2002 natural finish tort pickgaurd SR5!!! Beautiful machines! How is school for you? Are you taking any good theory or jazz classes?
again, welcome aboard.

peter

Thanks for all the welcomes guys. :)

School isn't that music-oriented. I don't take any classes in theory or jazz at all, since I study engieneering. I work with automation and advanced production system, in other words I work with robotics and computer controlled machines that help build stuff. If you wanna know how Toyota can put out a new car every 20 minutes, I'm your man. If you wanna learn exotic scales or the history of obscure jazz geniouses, you'll have to ask someone else. I'd love to take some music classes though, but then I'd have to switch schools, and I only have one year left so that's not really an option.

Robots scare me.

Nah, they are only scary if you don't pay attention when programming them and they lash out at you during test runs. That's why we have saftey zones around them. :D

Are you working on a bassist robot? Mwehehheh

Like John Myung, but with more stage precence? No, not unless I can figure out how to make an industrial robot adjust my intonation for me.

live in fear of the robots...

Video of robots in action.

This man has supposedly been captured by these robots and forced to sing in their band.

really he's built them all and programed them to play instruments, and they actually do it and sound decent (respectively).

yes, Careful with all this talk about robots.

Technology gone awry, that's what that is!

Welcome Thor! Buy a Bongo! w00t!:p

Send me some cash, and I'll do just that. LOL!

My next purchase won't be a bass though. I'm replacing the Eden cab with something bigger. Maybe an Aguilar GS212.
