Yo I just got my Hughes and Kettner Warp 7 212 in and its LOUD  ...I know I've been a pest with questions...so why stop now. Anyhoo the reason I purchased this amp was for its power through the clean channel. The Warp channel, well I think Satan himself resides in there...so I tried my Behringer through the effects return and it sounded sweet (Marshall who), but for gigging the V-Amp 2.0 doesn't have the juice to produce so I tried it through the input...man, I almost cracked the foundation walls...and I think I only got her up to like 4...so my question is, will running the Behringer V-Amp 2.0 through the input jack, damage the amp? Thanks...I know where to come for answers ;)

No since the V AMP doesn't produce a singal with a high enough impedance (ie to run itno a speaker cab), pretty much linelevel out the outs on it so youre good to go.

Dang there's this ringing in my head and I don't know why...ok so tonight I tried my amp out again, this time I compared the input vs the FX return. Now I kind of got worried with the line in is cause there was alot of push coming out of the V-Amp 2...this time I made sure the volume (not the master) was cranked...so I said let me try the FX return...dang at one point I almost passed out cause it was so loud....maybe cause it has been awhile but it seems LOUD and very deep and clear, I tried both clean settings and distorted settings and I only cranked the Vamp2 to about 1/2 way and my heart was starting to separate from my chest cavity, yet the tone was still controlable, unlike the line in, where I had to fiddle with the amp volume and the Vamp 2's volume to avoid noisy situations. Dang, I am trembling and I still haven't cranked that baby full...I think I will try it out wit da boyz on Tuesday via the FX return...if it don't cut it (which I highly doubt it) then I can always go thru the input...I know what OC said, but I fear cause it seems that the Vamp 2.0 does have some power, and I'm just too stupid to really know...I don't want to fry this thing...

Raz,

OC is right.. you aren't endangering your amp by plugging a line-level out into the input. The differences you are hearing are due to the signal chain.

When you go into the instrument input, you're running from the V-amp into the HK pre-amp and then the HK power amp section.

The effects loop lives in between the amp's preamp and power amp stages. So the signal hits the HK preamp, then your V-amp, then the power amp section of the HK.

Neither is better or worse, it just depends what works for your ears. Using effects loops tends to be less noisy in most cases, tho.

Thanks Steve, I orginally purchased it cause of its clean power, and my intentions were to run it thru the loop...if it holds up fine, if it doesn't then I can always go old school style.

hehehe... be grateful it's not heavy too! ;)

For the record, two of the three the guys I've played with who ran V-Amps ran them through the preamps and poweramps on their stage amplifiers (a Marshall JCM 900 in one case, and a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe in the other)...

Raz,

Glad you found a setup that works for you. You should be able to get the max volume by going into the effects return. Most amps have all their tone and volume control in the preamp section and the amp in the effects return is always maxxed out.

I have a Peavey Studio Pro 112, and lots of guys use the V-amp into the efx return with good results. Right now I'm not gigging, so the V-amp sits on my PC desk and I jam while online. The last time I was in a cover band was over ten years ago. It would have been nice to have access to any guitar tone.
